Classes in Peachland and Kelowna area
At My Dancing Dog we only use positive training methods. Canine musical freestyle, Rally Elements, and Rally Musical Freestyle are what we focus on. Basic obedience and dog tricks are incorporated into this fun class.
Rally-FrEe – is similar in format to Rally-Obedience but combines the trick behaviors of Canine Musical Freestyle. Rally-FrEe focuses on precision in heeling, attention and obedience behaviors. It is a natural stepping stone for those in Obedience, Rally O and for those that who want to give Canine Musical Freestyle a try. Visit the video page to see a Rally-FrEe run or go to http://www.rallyfree.com/ for more information about this exciting new sport.
Canine Musical Freestyle – is a fun dog sport where the handler and dog dance together to a choreographed piece of music. Visit the video page to see a Canine Musical Freestyle routine. (You do not need to know how to dance to do this sport.)
Obedience Behaviors – We focus on basic obedience behaviors such as sit, down, stays and most importantly heeling and attention exercises. These are essential for the success of both Rally-FrEe and Canine Musical Freestyle. These are also very useful behaviors for your dog to learn to make every day living in a family home easier.
Tricks – You may just want to take this class to teach your dog some fancy tricks and that is fine.
Whatever your reasons for taking this class it will be fun for you and your canine partner. You will be exercising him both physically and mentally while strengthening the bond between you.
ONE 8 WEEK SESSION COVERS
- Canine Musical Freestyle
This is a fun class where the basic skills for all of the above are covered. We start out each class with focus and heeling exercises, then move on to Rally Freestyle and Freestyle behaviours. We finish each class with either a mini Rally Freestyle course or some fun Freestyle. This could be performing behaviours to music or practicing a simple choreographed freestyle team routine which everyone works on together.
Classes are one hour long. There are 8 classes in a session and you may sign up at any time. The class is small with everyone at different levels in their training and working at their own pace. Basic obedience such as sit, down, stand, and stay, along with a basic level of focus and heeling skills, are desirable for the class.
